Fijiana 15s

The Fijiana 15s team has stepped up their training sessions after the squad was reduced from 45 to 36 this week.

The team has less than two weeks to prepare for the Oceania qualifiers against Papua New Guinea on November 5th and the coaching panel led by former Flying Fijian skipper Seremaia Bai faces the mammoth task of ensuring that they are ready by then.

Bai is expected to further reduce his squad by the end of this week, a decision he says, will be a tough one.

“They’re all working hard, it’s a tough decision to try and drop them, but going forward our main goal is the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2017.”

The inaugural Oceania Rugby Women’s Championship will be hosted by the Fiji Rugby Union in Suva at ANZ Stadium on the 5 November.

The Winner in Suva in November, will advance to the final WRWC2017 Asia/Oceania Qualifier event in December in Hong Kong. This tournament will feature two Asian qualifiers and one Oceania qualifier, with the two highest placed teams qualifying for the Women’s Rugby World Cup in Ireland.
