Suva is on track says Vularika

Despite losing its first match against Nadroga in the Skipper Cup, the Suva Rugby Union’s senior team have put up a consistent performance sitting second on the points table.

Suva’s utility back Serupepeli Vularika said “We are still on track to qualifying for the semi-finals since we have lost only one match out of the five games played.”

Expect a powerful team to be named to play Lautoka in the round six clash at Churchill Park on Saturday.

Vularika said the coaches have been polishing on a few areas which were exposed during their 15-6 win over Naitasiri last Friday.

“We have a lot to improve on as we progress and the coaches are working very closely with the players to ensure we do everything right on the game day” said Vularika.

He added “We won’t take Lautoka lightly.

They put up a strong performance against Namosi last weekend.

We will have a few changes in the team and we are looking forward to the game against the Maroons.

The Flying Fijian has made a special request to all the Suva fans as they prepare for the trip down to the burning West.

“To all our fans out there, families and friends, we urge you to come in numbers and support the team in Latuoka this weekend” Vularika said.

Meanwhile, looking at the Skipper Cup points table after five rounds, Namosi sits on top with 21 points, Suva in second with 18 and Nadroga on third position with 16.

In the matches this weekend, Suva plays Lautoka at Churchill Park at 3.30pm while Naitasiri faces Tailevu at Ratu Cakobau Park.  At 3pm Nadroga meets Yasawa at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

In a lone match on Friday, Nadi battles it out against Namosi 3pm at Prince Charles Park.
