SportsWorld Fijian U20: Moses Ravula Creating His Own Legacy

Fiji Under 20 Moses Ravula is determined to make his mark as he prepares for the Oceania Rugby U20 Challenge, set to kick off next week in Nadi.

Born in New Zealand and raised in Brisbane from the age of three, Ravula and his older brother Isaiah began their sporting journey with Rugby League in Queensland’s age-grade competitions at 11. Their talent quickly caught the eye of scouts, earning them scholarships at St. Andrews College, and switched codes where they spent three years developing their game with Rugby.

Ravula’s career has since taken him through New Zealand’s First XV rugby, a stint in Manawatu, and now back to Brisbane’s Queensland Premier Cup—a competition known for nurturing future Super Rugby stars and featuring former Wallabies. These experiences have shaped him into the player he is today, earning him a spot in Fiji’s national U20 squad.

After being one of the youngest in last year’s squad, Ravula returns with greater confidence and leadership, aiming to guide the team’s newcomers. “I’m trying to share my experience and help the other boys, but at the same time, I want to give my best for the team,” he said.

The younger brother of Flying Fijians and Fijian Drua playmaker Isaiah Ravula, Moses is eager to carve his own legacy. While inspired by his brother’s success, he remains focused on the present. “It’s special following in my brother’s footsteps, but I’m taking it step by step—starting with this tournament,” he added.

This tournament holds extra significance as it will be his first time playing in front of a home crowd in Fiji. “When I heard the tournament was happening here, I was really excited. I’ve never played in at home before,” Ravula shared.

The Oceania U20 Challenge will feature Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, and Canada, with matches played across four rounds. Fiji’s campaign begins this Wednesday at 4pm against Tonga at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, with live coverage on FBCTV.
