Regional Development & Pathways Manager

The Fiji Rugby Union (‘FRU’) is based in the Nation’s capital of Suva and administers the sport of Rugby Union over the nation’s 14 provinces. A major responsibility of FRU is to continuously improve development ensuring that the processes involved in the wider development program are continually reviewed, thus enabling pathways for all stakeholders from community rugby level to the high-performance level of the game to be more robust.

An exciting opportunity exists within the Fiji Rugby, and we are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, responsive, experienced, and self-motivated person for the following position of Regional Development and Pathway Manager.

REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT & PATHWAYS MANAGER

Principal Accountabilities

Leadership and planning

  • Assists in development and execution of the Development Strategic Plan in consultation with key stakeholders
  • Develop and execute an effective annual Operational Plan with aligned budgets across the 5 Regional Development Officers (RDOs) and Get into Rugby+ staff (GIR+)
  • Deliver positive change at regional level across development programmes
  • Manage, develop, and monitor the team of 5 Regional Development Officers and GIR+ staff
  • Explore and recommend strategies for expanding access, inclusion and increasing mass participation and diversity, through an understanding of the hinderance of various barriers, other sports, and policies

People

  • Assist in dentification, recruitment, retention, and performance review all RDO’s and GIR+ staff
  • Ensure all RDOs and GIR+ staff have individual Performance and Development Plans, and undertake regular professional development and upskilling adhering to the KPIs
  • Ensures that all RDOs have a range of T&E qualifications that will allow them to be more effective across more stakeholders in their regions

Programmes

  • Manage the regional delivery of all World Rugby and Union game development programs and initiatives
  • Ensure appropriate long-term game development pathways are available for age grade and adult males and females
  • Trains and supports RDO’s and GIR+ staff to deliver game development programmes & initiatives
  • Organises and/or delivers workshops, in conjunction with the World Rugby Regional Training Manager
  • Deploys World Rugby licensed Educators and undertakes quality assurance as per development strategy requirements
  • Ensures training force CPD relicensing workshops as required
  • Target female stakeholders across all programmes 

Stakeholders

  • Establish productive and effective relationships across regions
  • Operationally work with High Performance unit staff to ensure there is programme synergy support across key areas of the game between Development and High Performance
  • Establish links with Ministry of Education to facilitate schools’ programmes

Financial

  • Establish partnerships between Fiji Rugby, Regional governments, and NGOs to ensure that available support can be accessed and utilised to develop local stakeholders and the game across Fiji.
  • Develop effective management and monitoring of Regional Development Budgets in partnership with General Manager-Rugby
