Rauluni Juggling a Degree in Engineering and Rugby

At just 20 years old, Noah Rauluni is proving that excellence in both academics and sports is possible, as he balances a demanding engineering degree with a rising rugby career. The young talent has been a standout performer for the SportsWorld Fijian Under 20 side, which has secured two victories so far at the ongoing Oceania Rugby U20 Challenge at King Charles Park in Nadi.

While rugby runs deep in his blood—being the son of former Flying Fijians halfback Jacob Rauluni and nephew of Mosese Rauluni—Noah is equally committed to his education. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Australia, specializing in Civil Engineering, with future aspirations in mechanical or mining engineering.

“I’m going into my second year of studies right now while I have a part-time job at a bar to earn some extra money,” Rauluni shared. “When I’m here in Fiji, rugby takes priority, but when I’m in Australia, my education comes first.”

Rauluni’s rugby journey began in primary school in Brisbane, where he initially played fullback. However, as he progressed through the age grades, he transitioned to flanker—a departure from the halfback legacy his father and uncle established in the late 90s and early 2000s.

As the eldest of four brothers, all of whom play rugby, Noah embraces his role as a leader and role model. He currently represents the Brisbane East Tigers in Queensland Premier Rugby, a key pathway to the Queensland Reds, where he features in their Under 20 squad.

His performances in the Oceania U20 Challenge have earned him a starting spot as Fiji prepares to face Samoa in their final pool match. Wearing the number 8 jersey, Raulini will look to cap off a strong tournament with another commanding display.

The SportsWorld Fijian U20 team takes on Samoa at 4pm this Saturday at King Charles Park in Nadi. Whether on the field or in the classroom, Noah Rauluni is determined to make his mark.
