Police Blue aims to make a clean sweep this weekend

The Police Blue 7s team aims to make a clean sweep and win their fourth consecutive title in the Mobil 4th leg of the Super Sevens Series which kicks off tomorrow at ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Not only the three-time champion Police Blue will focus on one final victory but to play the cup final with their brothers Police White as their preparation has been based on fitness throughout their three weeks of training.

Police 7s Strength and Conditioning Coach Solomone Donu said they are aware of the struggle they will encounter especially after there hasn’t been any rugby for the past seven months.

“These three weeks we have been concentrating on our fitness because we know the combination is there so we are only focused on our fitness,” said Donu.

As points table leaders, the champions will take every game like a final.

“LAR Barbarians is second on the ladder but that does not count any team out as they will be aiming for a win and to reach the final but our objective remains and that is to win the cup,” he added.

Donu added “Teamwork is one of our weapons as the coaches have highlighted it to the boys.”

The Police Blue team will be boosted with six Fijian 7s extended squad members. They are Terio Tamani, Joseva Talacolo, Rusiate Matai, Waisea Nacuqu, Filipe Sauturaga and Livai Ikanikoda.
