Navosa crowned Royal Tea Ranadi Cup champions

Navosa Rugby team was crowned the Royal Tea Ranadi Cup champions beating Rewa 34-5 in the final at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

Navosa came into the final undefeated having won eight games this season and were tipped to favorites.

They proved too strong for the Rewa side. The first half kicked off with much more power and physicality and one try separated both sides after the end of the first half.

In the 24th minute winger, Mereisi Naqoqo dived in for the try which was then successfully converted by their nippy flyhalf Vatiseva Cavuru. Navosa led 7-nil.

Navosa came firing in the last 40 and scored five unanswered tries.

Navosa fullback Arieta Tonono dotted all five tries for her side in the second spell and one successful conversion from flyhalf Cavuru sealed the deal.

Tonono believed that teamwork was what carried them throughout the game.

“I thank the Lord Almighty for this victory because without his blessings this win wouldn’t have been possible,” said Tonono.

“Communication was a key component to our preparations this entire season and today it was even better and I thank the girls for the teamwork.

“I big Vinaka Vakalevu to the Major sponsor Royal Tea Ranadi and to our sponsors. Not forgetting our team management and all our loyal fans who have been supporting us, without their support we wouldn’t have made it through, and most importantly to the Vanua of Nakuruvarua thank you for your support.”
