Namosi beats Pacific Combine 31-17

The Namosi Rugby side proved too strong for the Pacific Combine as they beat its opponent 31-17 at Albert Park in Suva today.

Namosi was guided by Fiji Airways Flying Fijians half-back Serupepeli Vularika and Fiji Airways Fijian Drua skipper Mosese Voka.

The local based side led 14-7 at half time.

Pacific Combine Coach Chris Hicky said Namosi displayed an outstanding performance today.

“It was a really good game and we really thank Namosi for providing that game to us today. Combination was always going to be a problem for us because the boys have never played together before.”

“From our point of view having this game was really important to get the players something to work towards. As a coach it gives me the opportunity to access the players as in a game situation.”

Fourteen Fijian players were part of the Pacific Combine and Hicky was impressed with the performance of these players.

“I thought Eroni Mawi did very well, Frank Lomani is a high class player and he showed that plus I also thought Simione Kuruvoli did well when he came in.”

“I definitely think there will be some of them. For some of the younger players this is a big development step for them so they will have to go home and work hard.”

The game is not over for the Pacific Combine players, as their performance will be accessed after which it will be shared online where overseas coaches can follow and select the players for contacts.
