Naiqato excels in Glendale
Fiji Airways Fijiana Forward Litia Naiqato was among the top 6 names on the HSBC Performance Tracker at the end of the first round of the HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series at Glendale USA.
Naiqato excelled in true Fijian style leading the tournament in offloads and putting out a consistent performance across the entire weekend, finishing in an individual 6th place overall for a total of 40 points.
The lanky forward played her heart out at the Glendale sevens, completing a total of 24 carries, 5 tackles and 11 offloads.
The Fijiana did not achieve their expected results, losing to Spain in the Challenge Trophy final 20 – 14, but have returned to Fiji determined to build upon their performances.
At the end of the tournament New Zealand claimed the victory against the host team USA edging them 33 points to 7 in a dominant display of exciting sevens rugby.
The next round of HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series will be held in Dubai on the 29 – 30 November with the Fiji Airways Fijiana fielding a team in the Oceania 7s tournament and the Oita 7s in Japan on November 9th and 10th.
