Lilidamu makes an impact on the rugby platform

Helping out players in terms of injury and recovery is an aspect that drives Fiji Rugby physio Kristin Lilidamu.

Being in a male dominated sport is something which also encourages Lilidamu to work hard, thrive and set an example to all women that there aren’t any boundaries in the rugby field.

Kristin knows that rugby in the country is predominantly a patriarchal sport but she’s happy with how this is changing around as Fiji Rugby is now shifting their focus towards women’s participation in the game.

“Fiji Rugby Union has provided amazing support in terms of just furthering our education, getting our license to be able to teach and providing us with the equipment’s that we need, resources and the manpower as well.”

Something that brings a smile to Lilidamu’s face is to see some of her players reach the pinnacle of their rugby career.

“It’s so rewarding to know that you have helped or assisted in some way or another getting a player to the best of their ability.”

“Especially when it comes to injury and providing that rehabilitation process for them and for them to be able to perform to the best of their ability.”

“And when you see them progressing to the Flying Fijians, taking care of them when they’re injured and watching them reach the top of their rugby career is just very rewarding.”

Kristin strongly encourages all women and girls who are looking to take up rugby or want to venture into the rugby platform not to let the stereotypes stop them from doing what they love, but to go for it, make an impact and set a good example for others to follow through their footstep
