Heavyweights go head to head in Farebrother Trophy Challenge

Namosi and Nadroga will go head to head in their second Farebrother Sullivan Trophy clash at Ratu Cakobau Park on Saturday.

For both provincial teams, the game provides the ultimate challenge on a rugby pitch and in the adrenalin-pumping atmosphere of a high stakes showdown, it promises to be another bruising battle.

While onus will be on Namosi to retain the prestigious silverware, the Stallions on the other hand will try and take a revenge to their defeat in the first round.

Namosi captain Kelepi Naimasi said they will look at the weakness in their last game against Tailevu and will try to improve on these areas when they take on Nadroga this weekend.

“We have to regroup and look at our game against Tailevu, identify areas we did not d well in and work on those areas so come game day against Nadroga we will be ready for that challenge.”

Nadroga on the other hand are anticipating an uphill battle when they’ll challenge for the Farebrother Trophy against Namosi this Saturday.

Nadroga held the Trophy at the beginning of the year before Namosi stripped the prestigious Farebrother Sullivan Trophy from them in the second challenge. Namosi have been defending the Trophy ever since.

Nadroga captain Setefano Samoca knows that Namosi will field a very strong team this Saturday and we will have to be at our best for the challenge to give them a good game.

He said “We are ready for the challenge and we expect an enthralling clash come Saturday.

“This week’s game is a big one for us, we’ll be challenging Namosi which will be our second Farebrother encounter.

I can assure everyone and mainly our supporters that it’ll be a great game and your Nadroga team will definitely step up to the occasion.”

The veteran prop explained that Namosi had been defending the Trophy in the last two Farebrother Sullivan Trophy challenge.

“They will come into this game with the intension of winning it and we are prepared for this challenge.

“They will definitely give us a good game, whichever team that come fully prepared for this match will lift the Farebrother Trophy.”

Nadroga will be challenging the Farebrother Trophy against Namosi this Saturday 3pm at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.

In other Skipper matches on Saturday, Yasawa faces Suva at Churchill Park and Nadi meets Naitasiri at Prince Charles Park at 3pm.

In the lone match on Friday, Tailevu battles it out against Lautoka at 4pm at Ratu Cakobau Park.
