Fijiana 15s Hong Kong

Fijiana 15s Coach, Seremaia Bai has named a strong line up for their first match against Hong Kong, in the final WRWC 2017 Asia/Oceania Qualifier in Hong Kong.

The tournament will feature two Asian Qualifiers, Hong Kong and Japan and the Fijiana 15s, with the two highest placed teams qualifying for the 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup in Ireland.

Rusila Tamoi, Ateca Rainforth and Naina Baleca will make their test debut as they did not play against Papua New Guinea in the Oceania Qualifiers held in Fiji last month.

Bai says that the team has settled down and adjusted well to the time difference and weather conditions in Hong Kong and preparations have been going well for the team.

“We have prepared well for our first match against Hong Kong tomorrow. The ladies are excited and are looking forward to it.”

“Following our win against PNG in the Oceania Qualifiers, we have tried to build up on both our physical fitness and strength. At the same we have been working on their knowledge and understanding their roles in and around different areas on the field.”

Bai also thanked all their families and fans for their continuous support and prayers.

FRU CEO, Mr John O’Connor wished the team well for their first match.

“On behalf of everyone back here at home I would like to wish you all the best for your first match against Hong Kong. You have only been together for a short time, but you have really shown everyone what you are capable of doing and that girls can play rugby too.”

“As Fiji Rugby ambassadors you not only represent your families, but the many girls who want to play the sport. So go out there play to win and make Fiji proud.”
