SportsWorld Fijian U20: Khan Making Waves After Switch from Rugby League

Adam Khan is a rising star in Fijian rugby, the SportsWorld Fijian Under 20 halfback, has been turning heads with his rapid development since transitioning from Rugby League last year. Hailing from Buca Bay in Vanua Levu and now based in Brisbane, Australia, Khan seized every opportunity to refine his skills in his quest to secure a professional rugby career.

In his short time in the sport, the versatile athlete has immersed himself in both 7s and 15s Rugby, broadening his understanding of the game. Originally a fullback in Rugby League, his shift to halfback in Union has added a new dimension to his game, while also leaving the door open for a potential move to fullback in the future.

His impressive progress earned him a call-up to the SportsWorld Fijian U20 squad, which assembled in December last year to prepare for the Oceania and Under 20 Super Rugby competitions. Reflecting on his experience in the Super Rugby U20s, he said, “It was a good experience for me and the boys. I feel very proud representing my home country and glad to be back with the team.”

The tour to New Zealand proved invaluable, with the team identifying key areas for improvement ahead of their upcoming challenges. Now, all eyes are on the young halfback as Fiji prepares for the Oceania Challenge, where they will face Samoa, Canada, and Tonga.

Fiji’s campaign kicks off next Wednesday at 4pm against Tonga, followed by a clash with Canada on Monday, June 2nd at 4pm, before concluding on June 7th against Samia at 4pm—all matches to be held at King Charles Park in Nadi.

With his agility, adaptability, and determination, this rising talent is certainly one to watch as Fiji’s next generation takes center stage.
