Vodafone Fiji sponsors Flying Fijians for Pacific Nations Cup

Fiji Rugby Union is delighted to announce that its long-term partners Vodafone Fiji have come on board to sponsor the Flying Fijians for the World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup. The Flying Fijians are set to face Tonga, Australia A and Samoa in the three-week competition in Suva and Lautoka next month.

FRU Chief Executive John O’Connor extended his gratitude to Vodafone Fiji for their generous support towards the July international meets. The partnership will give our brand a stronger global presence as fans will also have an opportunity to witness world-class professional Flying Fijians playing after two years.

O’Connor said, “We are thankful to Vodafone for their steadfast support and we are also extremely grateful to the team at Vodafone Fiji for their loyalty and ongoing trust through sponsoring the Flying Fijians for the Pacific Nations Cup”.

We are pleased that Vodafone has come on board to sponsor the Flying Fijians in our time of need which will assist us to meet our relevant commitments for the PNC.

As part of the sponsorship, the Flying Fijians will be known as the Vodafone Flying Fijians during the period of PNC and will take up the front of the Flying Fijians jersey.

Vodafone Fiji Chief Marketing Officer Rajnesh Prasad said that Rugby is at the heart of our nation and It brings out the cheers and highlights the true spirit of togetherness.

Prasad said “Vodafone Fiji is happy to be back to support the Flying Fijians team. Vodafone has committed to supporting the sport through our partnership with FRU over two decades. As we get closer to celebrating Vodafone’s 28th birthday, our commitment adds to the celebrations in bringing cheers to the Fijian households with the upcoming matches”.

Vodafone’s long-term association with sports and long-standing partnerships have yielded impressive results over the years, whether in local or international tournaments.

He added “We continue to support various levels of sports in the country. Our utmost pride in serving our country brings us pride in supporting the grassroots and seeing them grow and develop over the years to represent our nation.

  • Vanua Championship (16 Provincial District Teams)
  • And our latest commitment – Fijian Drua Super Rugby Pacific Team

We’re proud to partner with the FRU and give the Flying Fijians the boost they need ahead of their PNC matches. We supported the Northern Tour last year and are coming back on board to see through the PNC.

Meanwhile, FRU’s CEO highlighted that they still do not have a naming sponsor for the Flying Fijians and the Fijiana in general.

“We are also thankful to our family of sponsors who have continued to support Rugby in Fiji even through the challenges of COVID-19,” said O’Connor.

“On behalf of the Fiji Rugby President, Chairman, the Board and the management, staff and the Rugby Family in Fiji, we wish the Vodafone Flying Fijians all the best for PNC as they begin their campaign against Tonga next Saturday at ANZ Stadium in Suva,” said O’Connor.
