Winning the Olympics for 7s

Mata played for Davetalevu in local 7s competition before being selected in the Fiji 7s side In July 2016 Mata signed for Edinburgh for a two-year deal. He joined the Fiji 7s Olympics team that won Gold and he made his test debut for Flying Fijians against Australia on June 10 playing off the bench. In 2017 Mata signed an extension to stay at Edinburgh Rugby until 2020 and has had 13 European Cups appearances scoring 3 tries and 15 points. Mata has capped 13 games for Flying Fijians with 3 tries and 15 points.
