Seruvakula names exciting team for final RWC pool match
Fijiana Head Coach Senirusi Seruvakula has named one of the best available sides to take on France in their final do-or-die pool match at Northland Events Center on Saturday.
The impressive front row of Props Iris Verebalavu, Siteri Rasolea and hooker Vika Matarugu will run on for their third straight World Cup game.
Captain Asinate Serevi will once again partner with Merevesi Ofakimalino at locks. Karalaini Naisewa moves from number eight to flanks and will pair up with Raijieli Daveua, relegating Sulita Waisega onto the bench.
Specialist and experienced forward Sereima Leweniqila returns to her favorite number 8 position for the final pool match.
In the backline, veteran halfback Ana Maria Roqica and fly-half Kolora Lomani will share the halves position. Sesenieli Donu remains at the inside center and will master the midfield with Melaia Matanatabu, who earns her first start. Vitalina Naikore and Raijieli Laqeretabua are on the wings while Roela Radiniyavuni remains is the fullback.
Expect more firepower in the second spell with players such as Bitila Tawake, Mereoni Vonosere and Bolou Vasuturaga named on the bench. Talei Wilson and Lavena Cavuru will also put up the tempo of the game if given an opportunity in the final 40 minutes.
Seruvakula said “We have named players who are physical and can counter the experienced French side. These players have put their hands up during the training we had for the last two days.
He added that even though it’s their first World Cup, they will try and give their all to qualify for the next stage.
“I know it’s a huge task but nothing is impossible. I believe in these players and I know they are ready to go and give their best shot.
We have strong players on the bench who will certainly keep up with the momentum of the game if substituted” said Seruvakula.
Fijiana takes on France at 6.15pm FJT on Saturday.
