Police Blue crowned 3rd Leg Champions

Police Blue has been crowned 3rd Leg Super 7s Series champions after thumping Wardens 36-nil in the final at Ganilau Park in Savusavu today.

The Series leaders stamped their mark, dominating the game from the first half.

Experienced hands of Waisea Nacuqu showed the difference as he was the contributor in majority of the tries.

Rusiate Nasove opened the account in the first half followed by Waisea Nacuqu and Joseva Veitakula.

Two successful conversions from Nacuqu helped Police Blue take a healthy 26-nil lead at the break.

Police Blue continued its dominance in the second spell with tries from Vilimoni Gadolo and Keponi Paul.

Captain Keponi Paul said they game with a game plan and that was to make a firing start plus get the control of the game from the first whistle.

“I thank the Police Blue players who followed the game plan and gave their all in the final.

“We wanted to make it three in a row, and to do that we knew we have to overcome Wardens in anyway” said Paul.

Police Blue has taken a firm lead on the table with 66 points, followed by LAR Barbarians on second with 45 points. Raiwasa Taveuni is third with 44 points while Army sits fourth.

Meanwhile, the pools for the final leg of the Super 7s Series was also drawn.

Police Blue leads Pool A with Stallions, Wadigi Salvo and Police White. Wardens take charge of Pool B with Fire, Uluinakau and the 16th team. Army heads Pool C with Eastern Saints, Dominion Brothers and Nawaka. Tabadamu leads Pool D, with Barbarians, Raiwasa Taveuni and Ratu Filise.

The final leg will be held on the 16th and 17th of the April at ANZ Stadium in Suva.
