New-comers Navosa provides tough competition

In its first season as part of the ANZ Marama Championship, Navosa looks to be a force to reckon with as the season progresses.

The side is currently in second place on the points standing after five wins and one loss.

Coach Etuate Nauro said the girls have been gelling well into the competition and know how important it is to remain on top.

Nauro said with the current performance of the team, many doors have opened for them in terms of sponsorship.

“We are getting a lot of support from people, our families and donors, the Navosa community overseas, and the Sigatoka River Safari team.”

He added, “This motivates the girls in a way knowing that they have the support of the community.”

The Navosa teams consist of girls from the far-reaching interior of Navosa which is a hindrance for travel for the players.

“Since it’s difficult to travel, our girls just camp in Sigatoka during the week and go see their families after the games on Saturday, these are sacrifices we make for the love of rugby,” he said.

Nauro said they are looking forward to finishing the rest of the season on a high.
