National 7s teams get their second jab of AstraZeneca vaccine in Australia

Fiji Airways Fijian and Fijiana 7s players plus the management received their second jab of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine today at their hotel in Brisbane ahead of the PacificAus Sports Oceania 7s which kicks off next Friday.

Fiji Rugby Chief Executive John O’Connor thanked the Queensland Government and the Health Department for assisting the team getting their 2nd doze plus helping the Teams become fully vaccinated leading into the Oceania Tournament and the Olympic Games.

Fijian 7s Head Coach Gareth Baber said it was very important for them to get the vaccination and stay safe from the deadly spread of the COVID-19.

“We are very thankful to everyone who have assisted us and after undergoing six COVID-19 negative tests it was important for us to be fully vaccinated.”

With the growing number of the COVID-19 cases in Fiji, our national team players have urged all Fijians to take time out and get vaccinated in-order to help the Fijian Government and the Ministry of Health fight against the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, both teams will go through three solid days of training before kicking off the Oceania 7s on next Friday.
