The Naitasiri Senior men’s rugby team is setting its sights on an unbeaten run in the 2024 Skipper Cup season following their recent 25-19 victory over Tailevu.

After a hard-fought match, the team is now focusing on tightening loose ends before Round 3.

Team captain, Asiveli Rokoua, said it was a challenge playing against neighbors, Tailevu.

“Tailevu has always been a challenging team to play against,” Rokoua said.

“We will always have a close score margin when we play with them, but we want to use this game as a steppingstone to prepare better.”

Rokoua added the importance of learning from their experiences.

“We learned a big lesson, and I am proud of our young players who have stepped up,” he said, acknowledging the absence of several senior players who have moved on to overseas clubs.

Looking ahead to Round 3, Rokoua said the team will need to strengthen their defense, recognizing it as a weakness against Tailevu.

The inclusion of Swire Shipping Fijian Drua star, Motikiai Murray, has provided a significant boost to the team.

“We are thankful to have Motikiai included in the game day squad. He has contributed a lot to the team in terms of what he has learned from the Drua camp.”

Next on the agenda for the Naitasiri side is a showdown against Nadroga at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Saturday.

Nadi will face Namosi tomorrow at Prince Charles Park at 4pm. Lautoka faces Macuata at Churchill Park Ground 3, Suva will battle Yasawa at Bidesi Park and Ba hosts Tailevu at Vinod Patel Ground.
