Fijiana 7s aim for new heights in upcoming Series tournaments.

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s are hunting improved performances at the upcoming HSBC Women’s World Sevens Dubai and Cape Town tournaments.

Coach Saiasi Fuli said the girls have gained a lot of confidence after qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games during the Oceania 7s earlier this month.

“I have seen a lot of improvement in the attitude of the players on and off the field after making it through to the Olympic Games” said Fuli.

He added “Majority of the squad traveling to Dubai and Cape Town are the ones who played well at the Oceania 7s.”

Captain Rusila Nagasau, Asinate Savu, Raijeli Daveua and Lavenia Tinai will play a major role in guiding the side at the tournament.

“These players have committed themselves in training and have the right mindset to travel and play in the back-to-back tournaments” said Fuli.

Veteran half-back Ana Maria Roqica has failed to overcome a an injury during the Oceania 7s while Sydney based Mereseini Levere will be vying to earn her debut white jersey.

“Levere was part of the Australian extended squad and played for the AON 7s competition in Sydney.”

“She has trained well in the last six weeks and deserves a place in the team in Dubai or Cape Town.”

Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s are pooled with Australia, Spain and Ireland.

They take on Australia at 12.12pm on 6th of December, then face Spain at 6pm before battling it out against Ireland at 11.12pm in their final pool match.

“We have a positive belief that as we keep working hard we will get it right.” Fuli said.
