The Vodafone Fiji Secondary School Deans semifinal will be held this weekend at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.
The games will begin at 8.30am kicking off with the Under14 grades up till the Under 18 games in the afternoon.
In the Under18 grade semifinals RKS will face Cuvu College which is a rematch of the Deans final last year and QVS will take on MBHS.
RKS will be the favorites on this match as they have been running undefeated throughout the Eastern zone competition and beating LDS in the quarter final last weekend in an intense encounter.
The Delainakaikai boys has won the Deans trophy 20 times and drawn 5 times, they first won the trophy in 1961 and they also hold the record for the longest defence of the Deans Trophy from 1980 to 1985.
However Cuvu will be coming into this semifinal will their best shot in an attempt to avenge their loss in the final last year and also with a chance to qualify for the final and create history winning the Deans Trophy for the first time.
MBHS will be the side to look out for as they topped the southern zone Under18 grade and they’ve also played against QVS Under18 on a pre-season warm up match earlier this year where they beat them, surely they’ll be coming in hard to this semifinal.
Marist Brothers High School has won the Deans Trophy on four occasions and drawn twice, they first won way back in 1965.
QVS will definitely come in well prepared and as usual when reaching this crucial stage they’ll be lifting their preparation to another level.
The two teams have already met on a pre season warm up match earlier this year and QVS went down to the boys from Kaunikuila, but at this stage competition from both teams is expected to be on a whole different level.
The Matavatucou boys has won the Deans Trophy 21 times and drawn 6 times.
