Fijian 7s set to face Argentina in Cup Quarters

Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team has sealed a Cup quarterfinal berth beating Samoa 22-12 in their final pool match in front of a jam-packed crowd in Hamilton today.

The Waisea Nacuqu-led side defeated France 26-10 in their first pool match before beating Kenya 21-7 and then overcoming a tough Samoa outfit.

Head Coach Ben Gollings said it has been a tough day for the team and has been impressed with the performance of the players against the three physical teams.

“The game against Samoa was just like a final and I’m glad the players came out strong and displayed excellent performance. We are happy to make it into the quarterfinal and now it’s time to reset and put focus on the final day of Hamilton 7s” said Gollings.

He added that it’s always exciting to play against Argentina and they are hoping to again give a solid performance.

“They are very physical and really get stuck into the game. We going to go back and regroup, assess our performance, look at their performance and see where we can improve on.

Kickoff will be a key area and we will make sure that we control the ball and settle well in the game” said Gollings.

The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s side takes on Argentina at 10.20am tomorrow.
