Fiji Rugby Supports Pinktober | Match Proceeds Donated to Fiji Cancer Society

This October, we are playing for more than just a win on the field.

The Fiji Rugby Union is proud to stand in solidarity with Pinktober, dedicating our upcoming match to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer. In a significant show of support, all gate takings from the Shop n Save Fijian Warriors vs Australian Country Stockman Rugby clash will be donated to the Fiji Cancer Society.

Rugby is rooted deep in our communities, and just as player welfare is paramount, so is the health of the women who are the backbone of our game—our incredible women in rugby and our fierce female supporters who cheer from the sidelines with unmatched passion and pride.

Fiji Rugby Chairman, Mr. John Sanday, emphasized that this initiative is a powerful way to support women living with breast cancer, salute the survivors, and honor the families who care for them.

“This action reflects Rugby’s core values – respect, dignity, solidarity, discipline, and passion,” Mr. Sanday said. “These values transcend the field as we show respect for families supporting their loved ones and stand in solidarity with our community to fund critical awareness and treatment programs.”

Belinda Chan, Chief Executive Officer of the Fiji Cancer Society, expressed her gratitude, stating:
“We are honoured that Fiji Rugby has taken on this task to support our cause. The $5 entry fee per person, with all gate takings being donated, will go a long way in preventing breast cancer and assuring early detection, ultimately saving lives.”
