Fijiana XV Set for Tactical Test Against Manu Sina

The Vodafone Fijiana XVs return to action tomorrow as they face Manu Sina in what promises to be a physical and tactical battle in the Oceania Women’s Championship.

Fresh off a dominant opening performance, Fijiana XV will be looking to build momentum, but head coach Mike Legge is expecting a very different challenge this time around.

Samoa’s Manu Sina side is known for its structured approach and strong New Zealand influence, bringing a high level of rugby intelligence and a style designed to disrupt Fiji’s tempo. Legge believes the key for his side lies in staying disciplined and committed to their identity.

“We’ve prepared well. Samoa will bring something completely different,” coach Legge said.

“They’ll try to slow our pace and control the game. For us, it’s about sticking to our process and the type of rugby we want to play,” he said.

At the heart of Fiji’s strategy is one clear focus: dominance in the collisions.

“The message hasn’t changed, it’s all about winning the collision. If we give them parity in the set piece and contact area, they’ll grow in confidence. But if we win that battle up front, our game will take care of itself.”

Captain Alfreda Fisher leads a strong starting lineup, with exciting attacking threats across the backline including Aqela Raitubu and fullback Litiana Vueti. Iva Rokowati, who featured at fullback against Tonga last week, shifts into the second five position.

Up front, the forward pack will be tasked with setting the platform through physicality and control. The front row brings valuable experience in Karalaini Naisewa, Keleni Marawa and Tiana Robanakadavu, providing a solid foundation in the set piece.

Manuqalo Komaitai anchors the scrum at number eight, while Sulita Waisega moves from number eight last week to the blindside flank, pairing with captain Fisher on the side of the scrum. They are joined in the engine room by young locks Karavaki Lutumaibau and Carletta Yee.

One to watch is debutant Kelera Rokorua on the wing, who earns her first cap in what is expected to be a high-intensity encounter.
