Yasawa Super Week Highlights

Following the successful Lautoka Super Week held last week, which brought together educators from diverse rugby-related fields to share expertise and showcase their work, the Yasawa Super Week has now commenced in Nadi. This initiative continues the momentum of rugby education and development across Fiji.
Fiji Rugby Union National Training and Education Lead – Mr Saiasi Bose emphasized the unique character of this week’s program, noting the strong participation of women.
“Out of all attendees, only about four men are present, marking the growing involvement of women in rugby education and leadership roles,” he said.
Today’s focus is on foundational rugby training and officiating, with sessions covering:
Coaching Level 1: Introducing participants to the basics of coaching methodology, player development, and effective training practices.
Introduction to Level 1 Match Officiating: Providing essential knowledge on rules, responsibilities, and decision-making processes for referees.
Level 1 Youth Strength and Conditioning (SNC): Highlighting the importance of physical preparation, injury prevention, and fitness development tailored to young athletes.
The Yasawa Super Week aims to build capacity among participants by equipping them with practical skills that contribute to rugby’s growth at both grassroots and professional levels.
Mr Bose highlighted the strong female representation reflects a positive step toward inclusivity and diversity in the sport, ensuring that rugby education is accessible and empowering for all.
This program is an example of Fiji’s commitment to nurturing talent, fostering collaboration, and strengthening rugby’s foundation through education and training.
