FRU Appoints Pita Waqanivalu as new Chief Financial Officer.

The Fiji Rakavi Football Union (FRU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Pita Tutuvula Waqanivalu as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), commencing in February 2026

Mr. Waqanivalu brings over a decade of senior leadership experience delivering strong financial stewardship and strategic direction across both public and private sector institutions. He began his professional career at the Bank of the South Pacific (BSP) before spending six and a half years with the international chartered accounting firm Ernst & Young, building a strong foundation in corporate finance, audit, and advisory services. His career is marked by a proven ability to strengthen financial performance, enhance governance frameworks, and guide organisations through complex operational and growth environments.

Throughout his accomplished career, Mr. Waqanivalu has held senior financial leadership roles, including Manager Finance at the Public Rental Board (PRB) and the iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB), and Acting Chief Financial Officer at the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF).

He also offers significant international experience, having worked across the Pacific and globally, including in Jamaica, Singapore, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Nauru, Tonga, and Samoa.

A Chartered Accountant and Associate Member of CPA Australia, Mr. Waqanivalu maintains professional affiliations with the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Internal Auditors.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Commerce from the University of the South Pacific, complemented by multiple postgraduate certifications and executive training in financial management, corporate governance, and project leadership.

In his new role, Mr. Waqanivalu will lead FRU’s financial operations, strengthen governance frameworks, drive sustainable growth, and ensure fiscal discipline in support of the long-term strategic objectives of rugby in Fiji.
