Oceania Rugby Sevens Championships Ready for Kick Off

The 21 teams competing from across the Oceania Region are ready for Oceania Sevens Men’s and Women’s Championship kicking off at ANZ National Stadium in Suva, Fiji tomorrow.

There are 13 men’s sides and eight Women’s sides competing over the next two days including HSBC Sevens sides Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, and Samoa.

The 19 visiting teams are estimated to contribute over $FJD1.5million to Fiji’s economy for the duration of their stay this week.

Fans from across Fiji are encouraged to take advantage of the family affordable prices for tickets and support their Flying Fijians taking on the best from the Oceania region at home.

Oceania Rugby President, Richard Sapias said: “We are really excited that this tournament is in Suva once again and I know that the people of Fiji will really get behind it over the next two days.

“Rugby Sevens is one of the World’s fastest growing sports and to have our Men’s and Women’s tournaments here on equal footing is going to make for a fantastic celebration of Rugby here in Fiji.

“With potential Commonwealth Games qualification on the line there is going to be plenty to play for as the nation’s competing in the HSBC Sevens World Series continue their preparation for round one in Dubai.”
