Vodafone fortify sponsorship of Fiji Rugby Union

Fiji Rugby Union and Vodafone have further strengthened and fortified their relationship with Vodafone announcing an additional cash support of $100,000 towards the Vodafone Flying Fijians. This cash contribution is a special incentive payment to the national 15’s side for the rugby world cup in England and is on top of the existing sponsorship arrangement between FRU and the consortium of sponsors.

The CEO of Vodafone Fiji, Mr. Pradeep Lal said:

“We are passionate about our National Team doing well at the highest level of rugby competition. We firmly believe that the Vodafone Flying Fijians have what it takes to cause a few upsets at this year’s world cup. All they need is to believe in themselves and give their best. We hope our support will provide that added motivation the team needs to get through the pool of death and into the quarters. As sponsors, we are genuine about our support for rugby and we will do whatever is within our means to help the team achieve the best possible result for the country”, said Mr Lal.”

The payment of $100,000 will be made to FRU before the team opening’s match against England on the 19th of September.

The CEO of Fiji Rugby Union, Mr. Radrodro Tabualevu said:

“I take this opportunity to thank and applaud the Management of Vodafone Fiji for their ongoing support and loyalty towards Fiji Rugby. Vodafone’s continued support is timely, as our National Team gets ready to take on the might of England in their opening match of the Rugby World Cup 2015. This additional support will definitely be a morale booster and an added motivation to the players.”

“Vodafone’s loyalty and support in general has been huge. Two weeks ago Vodafone committed $10 from the sale of every `Alcatel pixie” range of mobile phones towards our Rugby World Cup 2015 campaign. They also opened up their M-PAiSA mobile money platform for members of the public and fans of Fiji rugby to make a donation towards the team’s world cup campaign. Funds raised will go towards catering for the welfare of the players.
