Vodafone FIJIANA 15s SQUAD NAMED FOR 2025 OCEANIA RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP

Head Coach Ioan Cunningham has named a powerful and balanced 32-member Vodafone Fijiana 15s squad for the upcoming 2025 Oceania Rugby Women’s Championship, scheduled to take place from Friday, June 6 to Saturday, June 14, 2025.

 

The tournament will see Fiji once again face off against Pacific rivals Tonga and Samoa, in a key build-up to the Rugby World Cup.

 

The Vodafone Fijiana 15s will enter this year’s tournament as defending champions, carrying forward the momentum from last year’s title-winning campaign. The squad features a strong mix of seasoned players, several of whom participated in last year’s Oceania Championship and the recent Test match against the Wallaroos, as well as exciting new talent making their debut in the national setup.

 

“This tournament is a crucial stepping stone as we prepare for the Rugby World Cup,” said Coach Cunningham.

“We’re focused on building depth, sharpening combinations, and continuing the growth of our playing group, especially after strong performances against top-tier opposition.”

 

Notable Inclusions

Among the new faces in the squad are Michellae Stolz, Selai Naliva, Noame Komaitai, and Adi Salote Nailolo—all of whom have impressed in local and regional competitions.

 

Returning to the squad are key veterans such as Bitila Tawake, Rusila Nagasau, Asinate Serevi, Iris Verebalavu, and Jade Coates, who bring leadership and international experience. A special mention goes to Bulou Wainikiti Vasuturaga, who was outstanding in the Na Soko Championship and has earned her place in the squad. Vasuturaga was also part of the last Rugby World Cup team.

 

The squad also includes several players who featured in the recent Test against the Wallaroos, such as Karalaini Naiseva, Adi Salaseini Railumu, Alfreda Fisher, and Salanieta Nabuli—all expected to play crucial roles in this campaign.

Past Rivalries

Having faced Tonga and Samoa on multiple occasions in the Oceania Championship, the Fijiana are well aware of their physical and passionate playing styles. The team is preparing with intensity and discipline to meet these challenges head-on and continue their dominance in the Pacific region.

The team is expected to go into camp at Tanoa WaterFront Hotel in Lautoka tomorrow, Tuesday 26th May.
