Navosa plan to make an impact in remaining Vodafone Vanua Championship rounds

Navosa Rugby team aims to improve its performance in the Vodafone Vanua Championship West competition and secure a spot in the finals.

Navosa did not kick off their Vodafone Vanua campaign as planned in the first round after the win was awarded to Malolo due to some players ID card issues.

In the second round Navosa went down to Ba 30-25 in an enthralling encounter and they managed to get their first win against a strong Serua side 15-20 last weekend.

Navosa Rugby President Tevita Batikolikoli said the team are not discouraged by their first two losses, but are putting in a lot of work in terms of training and going the extra mile in order to be physically and mentally fit ahead of the games in front of them.

“Although we lost our first two rounds, that doesn’t deter our focus going ahead, we are working the hard yards getting our players to be ready for the next challenge.”

“The boys are working really hard and I can see a lot of improvements from the team after this game against Serua, it shows how we’re improving and getting where we need to be.”

Batikolikoli explained that they aim to top the Western Vanua and qualify for the finals but he knows it’s not a walk in the park as they need to be in their best form and right mindset to achieve the goal.

He explained “Our main target going forward is to get as many wins as possible, top our Western Vanua and qualify into the finals.

This is what we want and now what’s left is how we’ll get it done, it won’t be easy and that’s why we’re putting in the work now, setting our focus straight.”

Navosa will take on Malolo in the fourth round of Vodafone Vanua Championship on Friday 11th September at Churchill Park, Lautoka.

In the matches on Saturday, In Central Vanua, Northern Bulls takes on Rewa and Northland plays Nasinu.

In the Eastern Vanua, Nanukuloa meets Ra while Tavua faces Vatukoula. In the Northern Vanua, Bua meets Macuata and Ovalau faces Cakaudrove. In the Western Vanua, Ba battles it out against Serua at Ba Market ground.
