Vodafone Vanua Championship – everything you need to know

Fiji Rugby launched the Vodafone Vanua Championship this week as officials from the sixteen provincial Unions attended a competition workshop in Suva.

The Vodafone Vanua Championship is Fiji Rugby’s second division provincial competition, contested by sixteen unions divided into four regional pools, with 4 teams in each pool.

The home and away season kicks-off this weekend, Saturday 22 August.

The Northern Vanua Pool is made up of Macuata, Cakaudrove, Bua and Ovalau.

Naitasiri Northern Bulls, Rewa, Nasinu, and Northland contest the Central Vanua Pool.

Western includes Navosa, Malolo, Ba, and Serua and Eastern Pool includes Nanukuloa, Ra, Vatukoula, and Tavua

The finals series will look slightly different in 2020 for this competition.

At the conclusion of the home and away season, the top 2 teams from the Senior Men’s Pool will qualify for Quarter-Finals playoffs.

In the Under 19s and Women’s divisions the top placed team from each of the four pools will go straight to the semi-final playoffs.

Fiji Rugby has also secured a Broadcast deal with MaiTv to cover the Vodafone Vanua Championship games.  In an exciting breakthrough for the tier 2 competition, this provides a great opportunity for the far-reaching provincial teams to receive exposure and bring upcoming talent into the limelight.
