Mental preparation, a key component for Fijiana ahead of Oceania 7s

Oceania 7s is a crucial tournament which serves as Olympics qualifier and no doubt all participating teams will enter the tournament with the highest intensity.

Heading to such competition with high level of competition doesn’t only require physical preparation but also needs mental preparation as a key component.

Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s have spent a few weeks in camp building up on their physical components and also pushing through the limit to train and control their mental strength when under pressure.

Head coach Saiasi Fuli explained that the girls are aware of what to expect at the Oceania 7s tournament.

“They’ve gone through the mental and physical phases leading up to this Oceania competition.”

Fuli  added that these are the key aspects when going into such tournaments, any team that comes in well prepared will surely achieve the outcome they’re aiming for.

“We know these are the key aspects playing in such competitions, it will come to the knock out stages where those who are mentally strong and have that fortitude will prosper.”

He added that they’re up to par with their fitness and will continue to work on their game management with a few more days to kick off their Oceania 7s campaign.

“We’ve cover a lot in terms of our conditioning, we know that we fell short in Glendale, but we are ready to play at this Oceania 7s and have a high chance of qualifying.”
