Match Report – Serua v Malolo R5 Vodafone Vanua Championship

The round 5 Vodafone Vanua Championship match between Serua and Malolo was an intense and hard fought battle from kick-off right until the final whistle, as Serua claim the victory after 80 min of spectacular rugby.

Momentum was build early in the first half by Serua as their forward pack made some early driving play, pulling in defenders and then executing it with structural play from their backline causing chaos for their opposition.

Malolo manage to maintain their defensive line together with some bone-crunching tackles creating some unforced errors to the Serua team.

Serua continues to dominate in most play, pilling pressure on Malolo with their forwards pick and drive, as most of their attempt going few meters into the try line but only to be denied the try as the strong Malolo defense manage to turn the ball over and kick in out of their danger zone.

An outstanding player throughout the game was Serua’s fullback Adriu Duvuduvukula creating gaps in their attack, exploiting the Malolo defense, and delivering some outstanding offloads.

What happened.
4 minutes into the first half Malolo conceded a penalty allowing Rusiate Rokotavo of Serua to open the scoreboard with a 3 point lead.

4 minutes later a well-executed gameplan from Serua gave their winger Kilioni Tabakau a space to run for the tryline and score their first try extending their lead 10 – 0, with the conversion from Rokotavo.

on the 26th minutes, Serua was penalized for hands in the ruck as Peni Tuivuvulagi of Malolo slot it in to put them up in the scoreboard 10 – 3 before the two teams went for the half time break.

on the 48th minutes, another fast-flowing play from Serua with fast handling of the ball and a kick and chase from Rokotavo led to another beautiful try to outside center Jone Ratulevu, while Rokotavo sealed it with the 2 point conversion closing the game with a 17 – 3 win over Malolo.

In another Vodafone Vanua Championship match, Ba manage to overcome a strong Navosa side 26 – 20.
