Fijiana team participate in another team bonding session

Fijiana 15’s Head coach Senirusi Seruvakula is happy with the progress of the players on and off the field as they continue their preparation towards the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand next year.

The Fijiana XVs team had another team bonding session in Suva this week.

After all the team bonding programs in the past few week, at the Togalevu mud run, the Naboro Correction training facilities and the Sigatoka sand, the team went outrigger canoeing yesterday outside the Suva harbor.

Seruvakula highlighted the improvement in players’ fitness level and the knowledge about doing the basics right. Coach Seruvakula and his coaching staff have been working hard in shaping these girls in a way to become better products come the World Cup next year.

The main focus for these team bonding sessions are for girls to work together even when they are tired and tough gets going.

“Learning new things and achieving goals were the key focus during the outrigger canoeing whereby the girls needed to communicate among themselves in order to achieve something,” said Seruvakula.

He further added “There is a lot of improvement, the fitness is what we wanted is there and the understanding of the game pattern, so everything is improving and the staff are happy about it but there is still some work on and match fitness.

The team has been having game time on the weekends to help adjust their knowledge and experience, especially for the coaches analyzing the players’ individual strengths and weaknesses.

“It was good we played last week in the tens competition and we will be playing again this weekend,” he added.

“The coaching staff have been working very hard to ensure these players are prepared and ready to take on any tough teams on the day.

“We have been working overtime, after dinner we go back to the blackboard and work through it.

“It’s been good and they have improved on game understanding and that was our main focus in camp for this week.” said Seruvakula.
