Fiji Rugby congratulates Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team for World Cup win

Fiji Rugby Board Chairman Commodore Humphrey Tawake this morning congratulated the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team for creating another milestone achievement in the history of Rugby in Fiji by winning the Melrose Cup after a lapse of 17 years in South Africa.

Commodore Tawake said, “This is a tremendous achievement by the Fijian 7s Head Coach, Management and the Team who have toiled tirelessly with commitment, sacrifices and diligence in making our country and all Fijians globally proud.”

To our Fijian 7s Head Coach Ben Gollings, his management, players and their families, I say thank you, Vinaka Vakalevu and Dhanya Vaad.

I, on behalf of the President of Fiji Rugby, the Board, Management & Staff, Fiji Airways, sponsors, stakeholders and all Fijians, wish to sincerely thank the Coaches, the Management Team and all the players for this great achievement. You have made all Fijians proud

Commodore Tawake added “We would also like to thank the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team for their 5th place finish compared to the 11th place position in 2018. Fijiana 7s continued to make huge improvements on the world stage and we are proud of their performance.”

“To our major sponsor, Fiji Airways and all other associated sponsors our highest appreciation and gratitude for your continued support.

To all our Fiji Airways Fijian 7s supporters, the Vanua and all Fijians we thank you all for your patience, prayers and support towards the success of our national sevens team” Commodore added.

While we look forward to the return of the team from Cape Town, we are having a consultation with stakeholders on a plan for celebrating this great achievement.
