Quotes

James Abner (Vanuatu coach):
“It was a great game. At least we are now the team on top and I think this is a great way to prepare for the final against Papua New Guinea. I know we lost badly to PNG on Saturday but I think this win is a great boost for the boys.”

“I rested some of my senior players today so hopefully they will be on top of their game when we take on PNG on Friday.”

Orbeck Teave (Tahiti coach):
“The assistant coach and I are very happy with the boys’ performance. Though we lost I thought the boys looked more in control and confident in their game compared to the first time we  played.”

“For the core of the boys that are in this team, this is a whole new experience and we are glad we took it. Only two of the boys that are in this team have played in major competitions before so for the majority of the team members, this was the first. And I believe coming in to play in Fiji where rugby is the No 1 sport in the country is a great bonus. This has been a learning experience for us and we will surely take back with us a lot of the good new things we have learned from this tour and help the kids and rugby back home in Tahiti.”
