Naitasiri claim's Sigatoka 7s
Lautoka One lived up to their pre-tournament favourites tag as they reached the final of the Fiji TV Sigatoka 7s in Lawaqa Park. However in the end the favourites were undone by a hardworking Naitasiri Two side 22-10 despite leading 10-nil at halftime.

In fact so dominant were Lautoka in the first half that Naitasiri never got out of their own half and it looked for all money as if the Sugar City players had the game wrapped up thanks to two first half tries to Apakuki Vuaviri and Setariki Ritova.

But it was an inspired Naitasiri team that turned up in the second half led by player of the tournament Waisale Naicegulevu who singlehandedly brought Naitasiri back into the game. Within three minutes of the restart Naicegulevu had claimed a brace of tries and kicked a conversion to give the Highlanders a slim two point lead.

It was a lead extended in the fifth minute by an Isoa Koinalawa try and while Lautoka struggled to claim any meaningful possession Naitasiri wrapped things up at the death when Simeli Soro scored in the corner.

For their efforts Naitasiri claimed the first prize money of $7,000 while defending Fiji TV Provincial 7s Series champions, Lautoka One, claimed the runners-up purse of $1,600.

In the plate final Nadroga Black overcame Northland Two 10-nil while Macuata also came from behind to pip Yasawa 7-5. In the women’s final Marist Seahawks took the honours by defeating Mekinly Blues 26-14 while Lautoka won the Fiji Indo final 19-12 against the Nakasi Highlanders.

The Fiji TV Provincial Series moves to Nadi on 14 January for the Fiji TV Nadi 7s.
