Date of Birth: 08 Sep 1974     Place of Birth: New Zealand

Raiwalui holds a New Zealand passport, played for Aussie schoolboys, but says he always considered himself Fijian.

The big young lock joined Newport in Wales in 1999 after two seasons with Manchester Sale, where he was player of the year in his debut season.

He adds useful weight in the pack, and is renowned for his full commitment in the loose.

Raiwalui combined well with Emori Katalau as one of the most impressive line-outs pairings of RWC99.

Under former coach Greg Smith, Raiwalui developed even further. His try against Italy in July 2000 followed a 60-metre sprint to back-up flying winger Vilimoni Delasau not bad for someone weighing 120kg.

Raiwalui suffered a rib injury whilst helping Newport win the Principality Cup in May 2001, and broke his nose against Samoa in June, putting him out of action for three weeks.

He also got injured in the opening match of the dismal tour to Europe in November 2001 but returned to captain the team against Tonga when sealing top spot in the Oceania qualifiers for the 2003 World Cup.

After an absence of three years, Raiwalui returned in 2006 to captain the national side once again.
