One of the most naturally gifted wings in the world with a surplus of vision, skill and pace. The Bua native scored 11 tries at the World Cup 7s in Argentina 2001, showing immense speed and great kick-and-chase control. He returned to the side for the Malaysia 7s having served his two-tournament suspension following a red card in the Wellington 7s final.

Top-scored at Japan 7s 2001 with 12 tries. Also top try scorer at the Wales 7s in Cardiff. His climb to the top began when the late Ratu Kitione Vesikula saw him playing 7s for Police Mobile in 1999 and recruited him for Tailevu for the Telecom Fiji Cup. 'Rups' quickly established himself in the first 15, finishing the season as second-top try scorer in the competition.

Caucau picked up a contract to play NPC with Northland in late 2001 then was selected by the Blues to play Super 12 in 2002 where he scored a brace of tries on his debut. After injury later put paid to his 2002 season, he came good in 2003 by scoring some sensational tries for eventual Super 12 champions the Blues and establishing himself as one of the world's best wings.

Caucau eventually made his Test debut in 2003 after New Zealand had failed in their quest to change the eligibility rules. He scored eight tries in his four Tests of 2003, including sensational efforts against France and Scotland at the World Cup.

This earned him a lucrative contract with Agen in France. He finished as top try scorer in the French Championship in 2005-06 with 17.
