A tower in the line-out and a solid ball-carrier going forward, Domolailai plays, his club rugby in France but injuries over the past few seasons have reduced his appearances for his country. Domolailai (meaning "small neck") played the 2000 season for Nadroga but switched to Lautoka in 2001 after joining the Army.

At first, he looked a little gangly and unco-ordinated, but after joining the Army he put on weight and quickly became one of Fiji's most powerful forwards. Very competitive in the line-outs, Domolailai was in the secondary school squad for the Pacific Rim tour in 1998, and a year later he played for Fiji U19s against the Australian U19s.

Nominated for the Colt of the Year Award in 2000. In February 2001, he played for the Fiji Emerging XV that defeated the touring Northern Bulls from South Africa. Domolailai was also a member of the team which beat the Australian Barbarians in July and also won a gold medal at the World Games in Akita, Japan, in August.

Returned to the international scene in November 2004 against the NZ Divisional side but was stretchered off with a hip injury. He came back a year later to seal his position at lock in all of Fiji's matches and took on the NZ Maoris in their narrow loss 29-27 in Suva. Domolailai continues to dominate from the front of the lineouts.

In 2006, he continued his reputation as one of the best line-out jumpers in the Pacific 5 Nations competition. He was part of Fiji's 2007 RWC squad but niggling injuries kept him mostly sidelined.
