The Fiji Rugby Union announced Friday the Digicel Fiji 7s squad to the Hong Kong and Adelaide 7s tournaments.
Speaking on the make-up of the squad, Digicel Fiji 7s coach Iliesa Tanivula said a lot of consideration was taken to finalise it.
“We had a number of players from the previous tournament who are injured and have not been cleared as yet to take the pitch,” Tanivula said.”So we have had to make some changes.”
Fiji’s top try scorer in the IRB Series Nasoni Roko makes a return to the team having last played in Edinburgh in 2008.
The other changes have been made due to injuries. Among them New Zealand based James Brown comes in to replace William Rasileka who is suffering from a hamstring problem, Nadi’s Turuva Lumelume replaces Watisoni Votu and Patrick Osborne replaces Waisale Suka who has left to take up a rugby league contract.
“The new boys coming in should be able to adapt well. A handful have actually been part of the training or development squad so they have a fair idea of what is required of them both on and off the field. James Brown was part of the Fiji U19s World Cup team to Dubai. He is currently part of the Canterbury Crusaders Development team, thus should not have any problem to adapt as well.”
The squad of 16 will be narrowed to 12 after the camp next week.
