Senivalati Vunibola to debut agasint Niue at Gold Coast 7s. |
Naitasiri ‘hit-men’ and Nakorosule villagers Senivalati Vunibola and Jimilai Naikadawa will make their Digicel Fiji 7s debut in Fiji’s opening game against Niue at the Gold Coast 7s tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. While Naikadawa is no stranger to the national jumper, having already represented the Flying Fijians, it’s Vunibola who will be making his national representative debut at the ripe age of 39.
Both he and Naikadawa will no doubt be keen to make amends on missing out on a Rugby World Cup spot earlier this year by proving their worth in the abbreviated code for Fiji this weekend.
Also keen to make a mark will be nuggety scrumhalf Emosi Vucago who will be determined to show he’s lost none of his guile and trickery at the base of the scrum; and with Nadroga team mate Mitieli Nacagilevu named at flyhalf, the pair could prove a real handful for opposition defenses.
The starting line-up named by coach Etuate Waqa to play Niue is as follows:
1. Jimilai Naikadawa, 2. Setefano Cakau (capt), 3. Senivalati Vunibola, 4. Emosi Vucago, 5. Mitieli Nacagilevu, 6. Osea Kolinisau, 7. Joeli Lutumailagi
Reserves – Watisoni Votu, Livai Ikanikoda, Semi Radradra, Sitiveni Waqa, James Brown
