Digicel Fiji 7s team manager, Sale Sorovaki. |
We presented our i tatau to the President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau at nine o’clock this morning. The manager did the sevusevu and the i tatau. The President wished the team every success and joked with team captain Emosi Vucago on why Naitasiri should have beaten them this year in the BSP Farebrother-Sullivan challenge.
The President told Naitasiri winger Nasoni Rokobiau his side would beat Nadroga next year. We took a photo with His Excellency at the famous steps before we left at 9:45am.
After the i tatau i had a meeting with Rafaele Kasibulu and Waisake Radrodro of the FRU Games Committee officially briefing them on the touring team.
I was later joined at the team camp in Nasova by Mr Radrodro for lunch where we were farewelled by Mrs Tokalautawa and her catering crew with a lovely lunch of chop suey and cassava. Most of our FRU staff were there to make use of the scrumptious lunch.
A prayer was offered by Rev Nikola Matawalu Snr (Nikola’s father) before the bus departed at two o’clock this afternoon for our pre-departure camp in Nadi.
It’s been a busy two weeks and all are looking forward to getting on that plane to Hong Kong then on to Colombo, Sri Lanka on Thursday when “the Journey” will really and truly begin.
Digicel Fiji team manager Sale Sorovaki will be forwarding regular updates on the Digicel Fiji team's travels to Sri Lanka, Dubai and George.
