The Digicel Fiji 7s team arrived safely in Glasgow to weather conditions that are best described as wintery – 16 degrees during the day and dropping to 4 degrees in the night.
After travelling for over 24 hours, the team checked into the Marriot Hotel and got much needed rest and recovery.
Digicel Fiji 7s captain Setefano Cakau believes it’s important the team adjusts properly to the weather and time difference.
“Our team manager and I have been preparing the boys mentally on what to expect, I have told the boys to work hard no matter what circumstances they face in terms of the weather and to play their hearts out,” Cakau said.
The team will have a strength and conditioning session today with a training run in the afternoon, before attending the opening ceremony for the Glasgow 7s in the evening.
The team has a full week to adjust to the local conditions before taking on Zimbabwe in their first pool match at 10.30pm on Saturday night.
Fiji is in Pool C with Argentina, Portugal and Zimbabwe.
