Ulaiasi Vosaiacke - banned for six months. |
The Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) Games Committee has today suspended Ovalau player Ulaiasi Vosaicake for six months. The ban comes after Vosaicake was red carded, for the second time this season, for punching an opponent during Ovalau’s Digicel Cup round 5 fixture against Nadi on April 2.
Vosaicake had previously been red carded in round one for the same offence when Ovalau hosted Major Union newcomers – Macuata.
In the most recent incident against Nadi it is understood the offence took place immediately after the final whistle had been blown when Vosaicake punched former national prop Ravuamo Samo on the mouth. The incident instigated a major fight on the field between both teams.
In handing down the ruling FRU Games Committee chairman Rafaele Kasibulu said:
“The Games Committee has taken into account Mr Vosaicake’s actions on the day and the fact the red card issued was his second for the season for the same offence – punching an opponent.
It is quite clear the player shows little remorse for his actions and his intentions are clearly to cause harm. The Games Committee will never condone violent behaviour of any sort against any player or official.”
Vosaicake is banned from all levels of rugby until 3 October, 2011.
