Digicel Fiji 7s player Waisea Nayacalevu has joined the Pacific Nations Cup (PNC) squad in preparation for their upcoming PNC matches in June in Japan.
Head Coach Inoke Male had earlier stated that Nayacalevu was recovering after the hectic 2011/2012 HSBC world 7s series, but has now decided to call Nayacalevu into the squad.
Team manager Isei Rawaya said that it was natural for International 7s players to go into recovery so they remain be fit and ready if called up for national duties.
“Wise knows the importance of this opportunity and he wants to make use of it, because Wise is one of the quality players that we noticed during the recent 7s international tournaments,” Rayawa said.
The PNC team went through a mental toughness and team bonding exercise today at FTG in Nasinu, to help them maintain discipline and learn to work together as a team.
“We are trying to break that barrier, where players play individually and not as a team. Because we have emphasized to the boys that they need to work as a unit and learn to communicate with each other” Rayawa said.
The team is currently camping at the Naval base in Togalevu.
