Nadroga survived a strong Lautoka challenge to retain the Farebroher 15-12 despite the Maroons dominating territory and possession. Nadroga will be concerned with their lack of discipline in a game which saw number eight Nemani Nagusa and flanker Semesa Gonevou spending time in the sin bin.

All Nadroga’s points came in the first half through tries from Joeli Lutumailagi in the 28th minute and Jerry Tuilevu on the stroke of halftime. Fullback Mitieli Nacagilevu converting Lutumailagi’s touch down, as well as claiming a first minute penalty.
All Lautoka points came from the educated boot of flyhalf Taniela Rawaqa who kicked four penalties – two in each half. The Maroons though can feel hard done in the 19th minute after fullback Metuisela Talebula created what looked to have been a brilliant try. Showing skills worthy of any midfield soccer player the Fiji U20 rep booted a bobbling ball 40 metres upfield, regathered and found Watisoni Votu in support who scored under the posts.
However an earlier infringement in play by Lautoka scrumhalf Kelemedi Bola meant they try was disallowed and Bola yellow carded for his indiscipline after he was alleged to have stamped on a Nadroga player.
Ironically Bola claimed the man of the match award at the end of the game, though it could easily have gone to Lautoka flanker Apakuki Vuaviri who was the mainstay of a dominant Lautoka forward display, tackling everything that moved.
Nadroga in the end did just enough to claim the game however will have to be at their very best next weekend against a team likely to be their most formidable opponents of the season – Naitasiri.
