Koyamaibole and Luveniyali suspended
17 July, 2011
Flying Fijians Rugby World Cup squad members Sisa Koyamaibole and Waisea Luveniyali have been handed bans of two weeks and four weeks respectively for their indiscretions in last Wednesday’s Pacific Nations Cup loss to Japan.
The suspensions were handed out yesterday by the International Rugby Board appointed Judicial Officer, Mosese Naivalu.
Koyamaibole was red carded in the first half of the game while Luveniyali's suspension came as a result of a citing by Citing Commissioner, Sitiveni Kunaika.
The suspension of the two players means they now have no chance of participating in next week’s All Blacks Test in Dunedin, however both players will be available for the two Test Punjas Series against Tonga next month. Both players suspensions are effective from 13 July; with Koyamaibole able to resume playing on the 28 July and Luveniyali on the 11 August.
Meanwhile Naivalu deemed the red card issued to Seru Rabeni, the second player to be red carded on the day, as sufficient enough penalty and no further sanctions were imposed on the former Otago Highlander and Leeds player.
