The Flying Fijians presented their
i tatau to the President of Fiji, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, at Government House this afternoon.
In accepting their
i tatau Ratu Epeli wished the team well and told the team they would be travelling with the blessings of the nation to the Pacific Nations Cup in Japan.
A keen rugby man the President asked the players to forget about last year’s Rugby World Cup performance and move on.
“We weren’t successful last year, that’s gone; you should look forward to the next one, because you are capable of bringing glory back to Fiji rugby.”
Ratu Epeli remarked he’d been following the team’s preparations through the media and reminded them that this is the beginning of the journey to the next Rugby World Cup.
“You boys need to stay focused and don’t forget that you are all marked men, not only to the opposing teams, but also to scouts who will be watching you closely.”
The team will have a final training run tomorrow morning at Buckhurst Park before departing for Nadi where they will spend the night and fly out to Japan on Friday morning.
The Flying Fijians will play against Japan on June 5.
